Shanghai Film Week 2019 comes to Liverpool

To coincide with the Liverpool-Shanghai 20th Sister Cities Anniversary Celebration, four new and acclaimed Shanghai produced films are screening in Liverpool from 14th–17th October at Liverpool Hope University and Everyman Cinema, with many more special activities planned. The films include Sky Ladder: The Art of Cai Guo-Qiang, from OSCAR and BAFTA winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald (Whitney, The Last King of Scotland), acclaimed documentary Shakuhachi: One Sound One Life, action-comedy hit Pegasus and multi award-winning drama Old Beast, with Q&As and talks also planned.

The Captain, from the director of Infernal Affairs, landing in UK cinemas

From critically acclaimed director Andrew Lau (Infernal Affairs trilogy) comes a thrilling new epic based on an incredible true story, coming to UK cinemas with Cine Asia. Chinese animated hit Ne Zha released in UK cinemas and IMAX 3D

Ne Zha, the animated box office hit which has taken the world by storm (even surpassing Avengers: Endgame’s record haul in China) is coming to UK screens. CMC Pictures in association with Trinity Cine Asia is proud to present the film in IMAX 3D from 30th August and UK & ROI cinemas from 6th September. Scarborough UK Premiere announced and in cinemas from 6th September

Scarborough, a moving story of forbidden love from the producers of Lady Macbeth, is released in cinemas from 6th September by Kaleidoscope Entertainment, with the premiere and Q&A on the same date at The Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The film stars Jodhi May (Netflix’s The Witcher), Jordan Bolger (Peaky Blinders), Edward Hogg (Jupiter Ascending) and Jessica Barden (The Lobster, The End of the F***king World). Adapted from the acclaimed play by Fiona Evans, it is written and directed by Barnaby Southcombe (I, Anna).

Steven Berkoff's Harvey receives screenings + Q&As

Following his hotly discussed performance of Harvey at The Playground Theatre in London, with a recent DVD release, British stage and screen legend Steven Berkoff is bringing the filmed version of his acclaimed one man performance to selected cinema screens, with accompanying live Q&As. The first event has been confirmed for 15th September at the Genesis cinema in London, with further screening announcements to follow.
